New York, NY. (THECOUNT) — A pair of suspects from New York and New Jersey who were separately charged with sexually assaulting a minor, were released from jail and back into the public despite an ICE request they be held for crimes against children, according to reports.
The two Mexican nationals, identified as Luciano Trejo-Dominguez and Joaquin Rodriguez Quiroz, were both accused of child rape and were released from their respective confinement after local authorities refused to honor an ICE hold request, according to the report.
Federal immigration officials say the two suspects are now on the loose.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the suspects were each taken into custody for separate incidents in the Tri-State Area on charges of sexually assaulting a minor, according to WayneDupree.
Despite requests that the men be held in jail until officers from ICE retrieve them, local law enforcement in both states released the suspects back into the public.
ICE claims that detainers were issued for a man in New Jersey who stands accused of restraining and then sexually assaulting a child under the age of 16. That man was arrested, and held in jail from August 12 to August 23rd, when New Jersey officials let him go after denying the ICE detainer request.
Quiroz allegedly committed a crime against a minor under the age of 17, which is a class-E felony in New York.
ICE again lodged a detainer request with the Westchester County Jail on Sept. 7, but the Mexican national was released after posting bond.
