Facebook Issues Statement After Employee Jumps To Death In Apparent Menlo Park Suicide

MENLO PARK, CA. (THECOUNT) — Facebook is responding after one of their Menlo Park employees jumped to his death off a building on Jefferson Drive Thursday morning, according to reports.

The Menlo Park Police Department responded to a call of a jumper in the area of the 100 block of Jefferson on Thursday. When they arrived, they discovered a man that had jumped from the fourth floor of a building.

Firefighters and paramedics administered medical aid but were unable to revive the victim, reports Breaking911.

The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Menlo Park Police say that there is no foul play involved in this apparent suicide.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Facebook 1 Hacker Way headquarters is less than 2 miles away from the scene of the suicide death.

A spokesperson at Facebook said in a statement:

“We were saddened to learn that one of our employees passed away at our Menlo Park headquarters earlier today. We’re cooperating with police in their investigation and providing support to employees. While the family is being notified, we have no information to share. We hope to provide an update when we learn additional information from law enforcement.”

The deceased was not immediately identified.
