MAULDEN, SC. (THECOUNT) — Jonathan Douglas Dowdle, of Gaffney, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck in Maulden, South Carolina on Friday night.

Dowdle, 38, was walking on US-276 near Pinehurst Drive when he was struck by a commercial truck around 9:51 p.m., the coroner’s office said on Saturday.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office says they, along with the Mauldin Police Department, are investigating Dowdle’s death who was struck, and killed by a car Friday night. 

Dowdle was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

His cause and manner of death are pending, awaiting an examination and further information. 

Dowdle was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, has traveled throughout the United States, and currently resides in South Carolina.
