CHICAGO, IL. (THECOUNT) — The other mass shooting you may not be seeing in Sunday’s headlines.
At least 14 people were shot, five fatally, in citywide gun violence from Saturday night to Sunday morning on Labor Day weekend.
The night began with a fatal multiple-victim shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood. An assailant in a dark-colored vehicle opened fire at people sitting on the front porch of a home in the 7100 block of South Paulina Street when the shooting took place about 5:50 p.m. Saturday, reports ChicagoTribune.
Killed was a 32-year-old man who was shot in the chest and thigh and a 26-year-old man shot in the chest. They were pronounced dead at University of Chicago Medical Center and Christ Medical Center, respectively. In addition, a 25-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen, a 27-year-old man was shot in the arm and a 38-year-old man was shot in the lower back, police said.
A 15-year-old boy in the Austin neighborhood was killed in a shooting Sunday morning. He was found unresponsive with gunshot wounds in his leg and back about 2:20 a.m. on a sidewalk in the 5100 block of West Washington Boulevard, according to Chicago police.
