CLEARWATER, FL. (THECOUNT) — Derek Omasta has been identified as the victim fatally shot in Clearwater, Florida over a parking space dispute Saturday night.

Omasta, 31, was shot and killed by Deshon Powers during an argument over a parking space Saturday night, Clearwater police said early Sunday.

According to officials, police responded to reports of shots fired around 11 p.m. on Grove Street in Clearwater on Saturday.

Police say the shooting happened following an argument between two men over a parking spot.

Powers, 26, is accused of getting a gun from his house and fatally shooting Omasta.

Omasta was transported to an area hospital where he was soon pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

Powers is facing a first-degree murder charge. He was taken to the Pinellas County Jail, reports WTSP.

According to Facebook, Omasta is from Saint Petersburg and lives in Clearwater.
