Missing MO Woman Sylvia Ussery-Pearson Found Dead Hours After Husband Shot Dead By KC Police

KANSAS CITY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Missing Overland Park woman, Sylvia Ussery-Pearson, was found dead Tuesday evening in Benton County, Arkansas, hours after her husband, Charles Pearson, walked into a hotel near the Legends Outlets in Kansas City, Kansas, and said he had killed her, according to KSHB.

Police reported Ussery-Pearson, 49, missing Tuesday morning. She was last seen Monday morning leaving her home willingly, but she did not return.

Overland Park police said the woman’s phone last pinged in Cass County, Missouri, which led several agencies to conduct a search in the area on Tuesday afternoon.

The search was called off after police found a note in 51-year-old Pearson’s Lenexa home that indicated where her body might be found.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office and FBI conducted the search in Arkansas, where her body was found.

Pearson, who was armed with an AR-15 assault rifle was reportedly on his way to Legends Outlets on Village West Parkway, after killing his wife.

Kansas City, Kansas police shot and killed Pearson who they say was heavily armed Tuesday morning. Police say he shot at them after telling a hotel manager he had killed his wife and was headed to Legends Outlets.

Pearson’s wife, Sylvia Ann Ussery-Pearson, was reported missing on Tuesday morning. So far there’s no official confirmation that she’s dead, despite Charles Pearson making that claim, reports FOX2NOW.

Police said when officers encountered the suspect, he was armed with an AR-15 rifle.

KCK police are conducting their investigation around the vehicle the suspect was driving.

There was a lot of chaos in the busy area when police arrived. A Cerner employee told FOX4 the KCK location was on lockdown due to the police activity in the area, but it was lifted. The Legends Shopping Center was also on high alert, but police said the suspect was never actually at the Legends.
