LINCOLN COUNTY, KY. (THECOUNT) — A gas pipeline in Texas that runs all the way to New York, has exploded Thursday morning killing at least one and injuring multiple individuals.

The massive blast shook Lincoln County, Kentucky residents early Thursday morning about an hour south of Lexington, Kentucky.

Viewers report seeing a large blaze burning in Lincoln County from miles away.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says the explosion happened in the area of Bowens Loop Road in the Moreland community near Junction City and Hustonville.

Emergency managers estimated the flames to be 300 feet in the air, reports WLKY.

Several structures are reportedly on fire.

Emergency managers say a ruptured gas line was the cause of the explosion. Crews have been able to shut off the gas.

The pipeline is the Texas Eastern Transmission, which is owned and operated by Enbridge.

The pipeline stretches more than 9,000 miles ranging from the Mexican border in Texas to New York City.

People near the explosion are being ordered evacuate their homes.

A local church is providing them shelter.
