EDGARD, LA. (THECOUNT) — Lonnie Doucet of Lafayette and Mindi Becnel of Boutte, Louisiana, have been identified as the victims in a double-fatal head-on crash Saturday near Edgard.

Doucet, 44, and 38-year-old Becnel, were both killed when their vehicles collided on La. 3127 before 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Doucet was operating a vehicle on La. 3127, when for unknown reasons, he crossed centerlines and collided with Becnel who was driving in the opposite direction.

Doucet and Becnel were pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Both victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the violent collision.

Impairment is unknown as a factor in the crash but toxicology tests are pending, reports TheAdvocate.

The crash remains under investigation.
