SAN ANGELO, TX. (THECOUNT) — Jadyn Phillips of San Angelo has been identified as the victim in a deadly home invasion at Sedona Ranch Apartment in San Angelo, Texas, on Friday.

Officials were dispatched around midnight to the Sedona Ranch Apartment, located at, 2901 Sunset Drive, on report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Phillips, 20, was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Prior to the dispatched call, San Angelo Public Safety Communications received a call for a prowler attempting to gain entry followed by additional calls for shots fired at the location, San Angelo said in a release.

Officers located Phillips inside the doorway of an apartment.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot injuries.

An autopsy has been ordered.

During the preliminary field-investigation, Detectives from the Department’s Criminal Investigations Division determined that Phillips and another man forced entry inside the apartment when the 20-year-old male resident fired several rounds towards the intruders, striking and killing Phillips. The other suspect fled the scene and is still at large. The resident was not injured.

Investigators also determined that Phillips was an acquaintance of the resident and that robbery may have been the motive for the home invasion, report SanAngeloPolice.

The investigation is ongoing.
