BILOXI, MS. (THECOUNT) — Robert Mckeithan has been identified by Biloxi PD as the officer killed Sunday night. A suspect in the deadly shooting is still being sought.

Mckeithan was a 24-year veteran who was sadly due to retire at the end of the year.

The suspect has not been identified, but there are surveillance photos, according to WKRG.

Investigators are searching for the suspect who shot and killed Mckeithan late Sunday night around 10:30 p.m. outside of the Lopez Quave Public Safety Center on Porter Avenue, the main headquarters for the Biloxi Police Department.

The uniformed officer, who has not been publicly identified, was in the parking lot when he was approached by the gunman and shot multiple times. The gunman then ran from the scene.

Mckeithan was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

The Biloxi Police Department has released photos of the suspect. He is described as a man with a thin build, between 5’7 to 5’10. He was last seen wearing a red knit cap, black shirt, navy shorts, and high-top shoes. If you have any information, call 911.
