BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Crystal Willetts, from Southport, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash in Brunswick County early Wednesday morning.
Willetts, 35, was operating a vehicle in Winnabow before 7:00 a.m., when for unknown reasons, she crossed centerlines and exited the roadway.
According to the NC Highway Patrol, Willetts’ Chevrolet SUV was traveling on Swain Road near Funston Road when it ran off the road and flipped several times in a field.
Willetts was the sole occupant of the SUV.
The highway patrol says Willetts was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV, reports WWAY3TV.
Willetts was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
The highway patrol said impairment is not suspected, however, speed may have played a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
