“The Middle” Mom Patricia Heaton Weighs In On Trashing Of Covington Catholic Students “Damage Cannot Be Undone”

HOLLYWOOD, CA. (THECOUNT) — Patricia Heaton, the mom from long-running TV series, “The Middle,” is speaking out on the media’s handling of a viral video showing Covington Catholic students‘ encounter with a Native American man while in Washington DC march.

Heaton took to Twitter to air her feelings about the media’s treatment of a group of Covington Catholic students who were widely accused of disrespecting the elderly Native American man during the recent Indigenous Peoples Day March in DC.

Because of addition video later released from the same scene, many now believe the boys were in no way disrespecting the drum-pounding gentleman.

Patricia Heaton @ Twitter:

1. I’m seeing what I believe to be sincere apologies from some journalists and verified media persons regarding their lack of professionalism in rushing to judgement re the #CovingtonCatholic situation.

2. These apologies are welcome and necessary, but they don’t address the damage that cannot be undone which was inflicted upon young people who are about to embark on adulthood – applying to colleges, looking for employment, etc.

3. And yet those who perpetrated this destruction, no matter how unintended, are still at their jobs, with nary a consequence for their reckless behavior.

4. Some kind of compensatory action would go a long way in signaling their recognition of the seriousness of their transgression and help to restore what’s left of the public’s very fragile trust in their reputations as trustworthy journalists.

Developing.
