NEW ORLEANS, LA. (THECOUNT) — Edwin Roy Cottrell has been identified as a person of interest sought by NOPD in the hit-and-run crash that killed a popular pastor’s wife, 49-year-old Jeannot Plessy, on Tuesday.

Police are searching for Cottrell to question him in the fatal carjacking in Gentilly that occurred Tuesday night. He has not been named as a suspect at this time.

On Nov. 27, officers responded to a carjacking in the 2400 block of Prentiss Avenue.

The suspect was allegedly fleeing in a stolen vehicle when he struck the victim, leaving her critically injured.

Plessy was transported to an area hospital where she later died of blunt force trauma injuries.

Plessy was a mother of two and wife of a local pastor.

According to NOPD, 18-year-old Edwin Roy Cottrell is believed to have valuable information about the incident. He is not currently wanted for the incident, police say. However, detectives would like to find him for questioning in the investigation. source
