ANCHORAGE, AK. (THECOUNT) — The body of Benjamin Knapp has been located Friday after being reported days earlier.
Knapp, 30, was found dead by searchers submerged under 10 feet of water in Lake Spenard, in Anchorage, AK.
The case began Wednesday, when APD put out a bulletin regarding his missing status. He was last seen at 11 p.m. near the Lakefront Hotel on Spenard, where detectives believe he was walking towards Lake Spenard. source
Witnesses said they observed Knapp swimming in the Lake Spenard area.
Officers searched but were unable to locate the body until Friday, where Knapp was found about 600 feet to the northeast of the Lakefront Hotel, and 50 feet from the shoreline of the lake, according to authorities.
APD, in a statement, said that they believe alcohol to have been a factor in this case.
