SWEET BRIAR, VA. (THECOUNT) — Lynchburg woman, Carla Marvia Johnson, has been identified as the victim who drowned last Friday afternoon after falling into an on-campus lake at Sweet Briar College.
The victim’s name was confirmed by the Amherst County Sheriff’s office as 48-year-old Johnson.
The Amherst County Sheriff’s office responded to a call around 4:00 p.m., that Friday after receiving reports of a woman had fell in the lake. A deputy, town police officer, Amherst firefighter, Sweet Briar staff member were able to find Johnson in six feet of water, where they began to try to resuscitate her. source
Johnson was later taken to a hospital to further resuscitate her, but sadly she was later pronounced dead.
