WHITSETT, NC. (THECOUNT) — Jean Ransom, 56, has been identified as the victim in a Tuesday night two-vehicle crash in Guilford County, NC.
Ransom, a Ragsdale High School Assistant Principal, died in a head-on crash Tuesday night while traveling on U.S. 70, near Whitsett, NC., according to authorities.
The collision occurred late Tuesday night, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, after a vehicle, for unknown reason, veered into oncoming traffic, striking another vehicle head-on.
The impact killed both drivers. The other driver killed was identified as 32-year-old, Gregory Jason Pitti.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
At about 11:50 p.m., troopers responded to the crash near NC-61 and the town of Whitsett in Guilford County. Troopers believe a vehicle driving west veered into the eastbound lane and hit another vehicle head on. source
Troopers do not believe speed was a factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
