BODEGA BAY, CA. (THECOUNT) — The following is via Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office:
Shortly after 5am Sunday morning, a deputy crashed into a Bodega Bay house during a pursuit.
At approximately 4:00 a.m. this morning, a deputy was searching the Bodega Bay area for suspects in recent thefts. He found a vehicle he believed was involved with the thefts. As he drove closer to the vehicle, the driver took off and the deputy followed in pursuit. The suspect exceeded speeds of 90-100 miles per hour. While in pursuit, the deputy crashed into a house in the 600 block of Highway 1 in Bodega Bay. He was able to get out of the car, and he and another deputy helped the occupants safely get out of the house. Shortly after, the patrol car caught fire and the house was engulfed in flames. source
The people in the house were not hurt. The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital and expected to fully recover. CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
