SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC. (THECOUNT) — Wayne Jerome Johnson, of Landrum, SC, has been identified as the victim killed following a collision Thursday evening on Interstate 26.
AKA, “Larry” Johnson, 62, died in a crash involving a pickup truck and a Honda Pilot in Spartanburg, SC, early Thursday evening, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.
Johnson was securing a load in the back of a Ford F-150 pickup truck on I-26 when he was struck by a Honda Pilot who veered in the shoulder. He was ejected during the collision.
SCHP says the driver of a 2005 Honda Pilot was traveling east on the interstate when she veered off the right side of the road and struck the 2003 Ford F-150 around 5:40 p.m. near mile marker 8, just 3 miles east of Inman. source
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the crash.
The driver of the Pilot was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Three juvenile passengers were also injured in the collision and transported to to area hospitals for treatment.
SCHP and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.
