SCHOHARIE, NY. (THECOUNT) — The owner of Prestige Limousine, the company involved in the horror upstate NY crash that killed 20 people, has been identified as former FBI informant, Shahed Hussain.
Hussain is a “former informant for the F.B.I. who has testified in two prominent terrorism cases,” reported the NYTimes. The Times also said that a law enforcement official “suggested that his son may operate the limousine company.”
In the report, the manager of the hotel out of which Prestige Limousine operated said the owner’s name was “Malik” and lived in Dubai.
Shahed Hussain, the owner of Prestige Limousine, the company that operated the fatal vehicle, is currently out the U.S. and possibly in Pakistan, police said Monday. But questions still remain about his identity and the veracity of Prestige itself, which has previously been under the scrutiny of the Department of Transportation. source
The limousine itself was rented by Axel and Amy Steenburg, newlyweds from Amsterdam, N.Y., who had married over the summer. The group of friends had gathered to celebrate Amy Steenburg’s 30th birthday.
Three of her sisters, Mary Dyson, Allison King and Abby Jackson, also died in the car crash, relatives said. Axel’s brother, Rich Steenburg, was also killed and is survived by his 10-year-old daughter and 14-year-old stepson. The Steenburg brothers both worked for GlobalFoundries, a foundry that produces semiconductors. source
It happened Saturday just before 2:00 p.m. in Schoharie, about 45 miles west of Albany.
