NASHVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT) — The suspect was fatally shot in an overnight Nashville shooting has been identified as 31-year-old Sershawn Martez Dillon.
Dillon, 31, was named as the gunman killed when gunfire broke out at Nashville apartment complex, Overlook Ridge Apartments, formerly, Cumberland Pointe.
A Metro Nashville police officer was injured in the shooting, according to officials.
The incident was initially reported around 10:30 p.m. Friday, as a shots fired call at the Overlook Ridge Apartments. Officers Samuel Galluzzi and John Petriello, along with Detective Zachary Ronan, responded to the scene. A man matching the description of the suspect ran into one of the apartments that wasn’t his. Officers spotted him and approached the door. source
At some point, the situation escalated and shots were fired. Metro police said the officers involved returned fire on the gunman.
