TUNAS, MO. (THECOUNT) — Joe and Brandy Allen have been identified as the couple killed Sunday morning outside their home in the Dallas County town of Tunas, MO.
Authorities say the Allens, who had just celebrated their wedding anniversary hours earlier, were shot to death in an apparent gunfight with possible intruders.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office says the homeowner apparently interrupted an attempted robbery around 4 a.m.
Authorities say the victims’ pickup truck was missing when authorities arrived. According to KY3, the 2006 silver Chevrolet Silverado was found Monday morning about 15 miles away from the home. It was stuck in mud. Lake News Online reports the suspect or suspects attempted to steal an older El Camino but were unsuccessful. source
Joe and Brandy Allen leave behind an 18-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter. The children were not home the night of the murder — the couple’s wedding anniversary.
A GoFundMe account for the couple’s funeral has raised more than $17,180.
Anyone with information on the deadly incident should contact police at 911.
