DOWAGIAC, MI. (THECOUNT) — Ryan Grady, of Dowagiac, MI, has been identified as the victim killed in a motorcycle crash after he apparently sped away from a traffic stop in southwestern Michigan Monday.
Grady, 32, died following a crash in Pokagon Township after authorities say he was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control at a curve and crashed into several trees, say police.
It is unknown why Grady departed the Dowagiac traffic stop. Police were not pursuing him when he crashed.
The sheriff’s office says police in Dowagiac had tried to stop a motorcycle before the crash was reported, but the motorcycle sped away. Dowagiac police didn’t chase the motorcycle. source
Grady was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the crash.
Investigators say the crash remains under investigation.
