HAGERSVILLE, ON. CA. (THECOUNT) — A devastating head-on crash in Hagersville has killed Caledonia sports commentator Don Edwards. The crash, which reportedly occurred during a torrential rain storm, also took the life of Edwards’ 18-year-old son, Spencer.
Friends on social media identified Don, 59, and Spencer Edwards, of Caledonia, as the victims in the violent double-fatal crash in Hagersville Wednesday.
Cable 14 issued a statement expressing condolences to the Edwards family:
“Don was extraordinarily knowledgeable, witty and possessed a wonderful sense of humour. The Cable 14 family is hurting along with them today.”
Don Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene. Spencer was transported to an area hospital where he later passed away.
Now police are looking into the cause of the crash.
59 year-old Don Edwards was a local sports fixture in the community. He was an active volunteer on Cable 14 for the past 12 years, a colour commentator for AHL and OHL hockey, a football analyst, and he did play-by-play on OUA and high school football games. Continue reading
PORTLAND, OR. (THECOUNT) — Darnell J. Jolly, the Portland, OR, man struck by a suspected drunk driver last week, died Wednesday in the hospital, according to Portland police.
Jolly, 64, was identified as the pedestrian struck while on SE Stark St and SE 146th Ave Portland, OR, last Friday night. He was transported to an area hospital in critical condition and sadly passed away today.
William C. Leptich, 64, was arrested and booked into Multnomah County Jail. Police said at the time they believes he was driving under the influence of intoxicants.

LOS ANGELES. CA. (THECOUNT) — Beverly McClellan, a singer who made it all the way to the finals on the first season of NBC’s singing competition, The Voice, has passed away. She was 49.
McClellan appeared on the very first season of the show with coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green.
She went on to compete in every single stage of the competition and soared above most others until the very last stage of the show. As one of the final four, it was very clear McClellan was a standout – and an incredibly gifted singer. Continue reading
GREENVILLE, SC. (THECOUNT) — Grady Anthony Trapp, of Greenville, SC, has been identified as the pedestrian struck by two vehicles while walking at the intersection of Augusta Road and North Estate Drive in Gantt, SC, Tuesday night.
Trapp, 29, died in the hospital after being struck by two cars in Greenville Tuesday night, confirmed Greenville County Coroner Jeff Fowler.
The coroner said both vehicles stopped and cooperated with authorities following the collision.
Grady Anthony Trapp, 29, of Greenville, was crossing the street at the intersection of Augusta Road and North Estate Drive when he was hit by two separate vehicles, Fowler said. Trapp was taken to the hospital by EMS for treatment. Fowler said Trapp died Wednesday around 10 a.m. Continue reading
MARINGOUIN, LA. (THECOUNT) — Aubrey Stewart Jr., of Walker, LA, has been identified as the motorcyclist killed in a Maringouin crash Tuesday afternoon.
Stewart, 33, was headed north on LA 77 on a 2013 Suzuki motorcycle, when for unknown reasons, he lost control, crossed centerlines, and collided with a 2013 Ford Mustang headed south on the same highway.
Officials have not yet determined what caused Stewart to lose control.
According to officials, Stewart was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators don’t believe impairment was a factor in the wreck.
The driver of the car was not cited or charged in the crash.
Blood samples were taken from both drivers and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This is done for all deadly crashes on Louisiana highways.

SHINNSTON, WV. (THECOUNT) — Emergency officials are responding to Lucas Road, in Shinnston, W.Va, after a school bus was side-swiped by a tanker truck.
The accident happened around 1:45 p.m. on Lucas Avenue in Shinnston.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. (THECOUNT) — Kasey Jill Morse, of Yukon, OK, has been identified as the victim killed in a crash Monday morning on Interstate 40 after a semi-truck driver lost his fifth axle dual wheel assembly sending a tire and parts into oncoming traffic.
Morse, 33, was killed as a tractor-trailer caused multiple vehicle to crash Monday morning on I-40 near South Macarthur Boulevard, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Shannon Fast, of Oklahoma City, was later located.
Fast said that he did not know he lost his wheel assembly and discovered it only when he performed his usual check in the hours following the crash.

PHILADELPHIA, PA. (THECOUNT) — Jessica Ledee, also known as Jessica Davila, has been identified as the suspect in a deadly hit-and-run Kensington crash that killed a homeless woman, (pictured below,) and injured her boyfriend.
Ledee, 34, is facing charges of vehicular homicide, fleeing the scene of an accident and driving without a license, after police say she ran over two homeless people who were lying on a sidewalk mattress.
The woman, 22-year-old Rhiannon Elisa Broderick, from Florence, New Jersey, was killed. Her boyfriend, 27-year-old John Guertler, was injured.
Authorities say it happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday at Kensington Avenue and Cambria Street. Investigators say an older model Honda hit the back of a Nissan. Witnesses say words were exchanged between the two drivers before the person behind the wheel of the Honda, later identified as Davila, quickly took off from the scene. That’s when her vehicle jumped the curb and ran over a homeless couple resting on a mattress on the sidewalk. Continue reading
LIVONIA, MI. (THECOUNT) — Klivja Caci, of Westland, MI, has been identified as the woman killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday evening on I-96 in Livonia.
Caci, 25, was operating in a vehicle traveling eastbound I-96 at Newburgh Road in Livonia, when the fatal crash occurred Tuesday night.
Livonia police responded to the crash at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday on eastbound I-96 just west of Newburgh Road, after a driver misjudged a curve while exiting the interstate and crashed.
The driver, the only occupant of the car, was killed in the crash after losing control of the vehicle while attempting to exit I-96 at Newburgh Road. The victim has been identified as Klivja Caci.
ROANOKE, VA. (THECOUNT) — Dominic Townes, of Roanoke, VA, has been identified as the suspect arrested early Wednesday, in the murder of a pair of men in Roanoke Tuesday night.
Townes, 30, was taken in custody after the Roanoke Police Department discovered two men dead inside a home on the 600 block of Hanover Avenue Northwest, in Roanoke, VA around 10:30 p.m.
Officials say that they located Dominic S. Townes, 30 of Roanoke at 8 a.m., this morning and was take into custody without incident. Continue reading
