Tragic Accident Kills NASCAR Driver Ty Dillon Family Members

KITTITAS COUNTY, WA. (THECOUNT) — The wife of NASCAR driver, Ty Dillon, is speaking out about a tragic accident involving her husband’s family members Monday.

The Washington State Patrol reports Michael B. Edelbrock, 62, of Snohomish was driving a 40-foot motorhome and trailer at 3:23 p.m., Monday when the vehicle blew a tire at I-90 west.

A woman and a six-year-old girl from Snohomish died in a family motorhome crash at I-90 one mile south of Ellensburg. The motorhome lost control, causing the vehicle to cross lanes, hit the guardrail and fall down an embankment and into the creek below the interstate.

Lois Edelbrock, 61, died at the scene of the crash. Six-year-old Kaci Edelbrock was taken to Kittitas Valley Healthcare where she later died. according to troopers.

The driver was injured and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.

Troopers said five passengers in the motorhome were also injured.

Jessica Edelbrock, 41, and a three-year-old boy from Monroe were airlifted to Harborview for treatment.

A six-year-old Monroe boy and a 13-year old from Snohomish were injured and airlifted to Virginia Mason Memorial in Yakima.

Another teen, 15, was taken to Kittitas Valley Healthcare for treatment of his injuries.

Only one passenger, an eight-year-old girl, was uninjured in the crash.

Dillon’s wife Haley released the following brief statement on social media about the devastating crash.

“I’m devastated to say my family was in a tragic accident,” Haley wrote on Twitter. “My super hero aunt and sweet cousin didn’t make it. People keep asking what they can do to help, if you feel so inclined they set up a GoFundMe. Thank you for your prayers.” source

The Edelbrock family have been dedicated supporters of their local speedway, Evergreen Speedway and have been a beloved part of the local racing community. A GoFundMe has been started to help with expenses.
