FORT WAYNE, IN. (THECOUNT) — Jason Sandy and Rachel Burtz, have been identified as the victims in Thursday night’s home shooting.
Fort Wayne police say a total of three people were shot inside a home in the 800 block of Madison St. Thursday around 9:12 p.m.
The Fort Wayne Police Department said the male victim was identified as 41-year-old Jason Sandy. He was last listed in critical condition. The female victim has been identified as 33-year-old Rachel Burtz. She was last listed in serious condition. Continue reading
MIAMI, FL. (THECOUNT) — Two Good Samaritans were killed and nine others were injured in a crash on Interstate 95 in Miami after a group of people stopped on the roadway to assait a motorcyclist who had wrecked, reports say.
Several people stopped to help the motorcyclist, using their vehicles to stop the motorcyclist from being struck, when a white van struck them, causing a violent chain-reaction crash.
A Miami Department of Fire-Rescue spokesman said rescuers received a phone call about 1 a.m. Friday from a woman saying a motorcyclist had been involved in a crash.
Four people were treated at the scene. Five others were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Two of the victims died at the hospital and another is in critical condition.
“This is a testimony of how dangerous the highways are, even at nighttime, and also looking at the conditions, whether it was raining, whether the streets were wet,” Carroll said. Continue reading

LOGAN, WV. (THECOUNT) — CJ Justice, of Greenville, SC, has been arrested early Friday morning following a deadly shooting that happened on Dingess Street Thursday night.
“Wallace” Justice was apprehended on High Street early Friday morning, according to West Virginia State Police.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

THOREAU, NM. (THECOUNT) — At least four people were killed and dozens injured in a crash involving a Los Angeles-bound Greyhound bus and a big rig in New Mexico on Interstate 40, authorities said.
The Route 1333 bus was heading through New Mexico and Arizona, with final scheduled stops in San Bernardino and downtown Los Angeles. There were 49 passengers on board, according to Greyhound.
The bus had left St. Louis Wednesday morning, according to its route schedule. It was on the way to Phoenix when the crash occurred.
New Mexico State Police said at least four people were killed in the crash, but that number may rise. There were 42 people transported to local hospitals and six treated for minor injuries at the scene. Continue reading
ST. LOUIS, MO. (THECOUNT) — A body pulled from the Mississippi river in St. Louis Wednesday, has been identified as Shelbe Davis.
Davis, 22, was named by authorities as the body found in the Mississippi River in St. Louis Wednesday.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the St. Louis medical examiner’s office identified the man Wednesday as Shelbe Davis. The St. Louis Fire Department worked Friday with divers and a boat with sonar equipment to search the river after surveillance cameras showed a car driving into the river. Continue reading
KNOX COUNTY, TN. (THECOUNT) — Daniel Downer Gavin, of Knoxville, TN, has been located deceased. A cause of death has not been provided.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office was asking for help locating the missing Knox County man. That search has now concluded with the discovery of a body, identified as, 60-year-old Gavin.
60-year-old Daniel Downer Gavin was last seen by his family on Wednesday, August 22nd around 8:30 a.m. at his home on Winding Way Road in West Knox County. Gavin is a white male, approximately 5’11 and 170 pounds. It is unknown what he was wearing when he left his home on Wednesday morning. Continue reading
EL MONTE, CA. (THECOUNT) — Authorities say they are searching searching for El Monte man, Octavio Curiel-Martinez, who is suspected in the shooting deaths of his pregnant wife and her fetus in El Monte Wednesday night.
Curiel-Martinez, 36, was named as the prime suspect after El Monte Police responded to calls of shots fired in a residence located in the 2700 block of Leafdale Avenue just before 9 p.m., authorities stated in a release.
Arriving officers found a 37-year-old pregnant woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside the home. The woman has not been identified.
Curiel-Martinez and the victim lived at the home together with their children, according to the news release. Investigators do not believe the children were home at the time of the shooting. Continue reading
LINCOLN, NE. (THECOUNT) — Zachary Francke has been identified as the Lincoln tree trimmer electrocuted while on the job Wednesday afternoon.
Lincoln Police named, Francke, 36, as the man killed while attempting to remove a fallen tree limb Wednesday. During the process, an electrocution occurred which in turn set the tree on fire.
LPD said Zachary Francke, 36, was killed when he a limb fell on an electrical line and he tried to remove it. Lincoln Fire and Rescue said they were called to the 2300 block of South 39th Street around 3 p.m., on a call of a possible electrocution. Continue reading
BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (THECOUNT) — Dylan Jacob Thomas, of Summerville, SC, has been identified as the victim in a Berkeley County vehicle crash Thursday morning.
Thomas, 21, was killed in a crash involving two vehicles around 5:28 a.m. near the intersection of Black Tom Road and Highway 17-A, according to officials.
