LAFAYETTE, CA. (THECOUNT) Pleasant Hill, Ca., public information officer, Martin Nelis, has been identified as the victim struck and killed by a big rig truck on Thursday in Lafayette.
Nelis, whose name was not provided, was confirmed dead by friends speaking to members of the media saying he died after a semi-truck hit him in the 1800 block of Reliez Valley Road, around 12:30 p.m.

Authorities have not yet confirmed Nelis by name as the victim in the incident.
Officers called to the scene found Nelis on the ground, where he was treated by firefighters and paramedics, Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jimmy Lee said. An ambulance took him to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where medics pronounced him dead.
The truck initially left the scene, however, officers later located the driver.
Authorities did not say whether the driver was cooperating, or whether an arrest was made.
