AUGUSTA, GA. (THECOUNT) — Lakeesha Stokes has been identified as the Augusta woman arrested in the early Saturday morning hours over the fatal shooting of 62-year-old, Larry G. White.
Stokes, whose age was not provided, was taken in custody following a deadly 1:20 a.m. shooting at, 2515 Parkway Drive in Augusta-Richmond County, GA.
Officers responded to an Augusta residence after receiving calls of shots fired. Upon arrival, White was found lying on the ground unresponsive and obviously suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner William Leisey.
Stokes was reportedly taken into custody at the scene without incident and later charged with murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.
White’s body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. source
A motive in the shooting was not immediately provided by investigators.
The investigation is ongoing.
