One person died following an accident at a house on Lake Freeman, IN., Friday.
Police say a lift used to transport people from a residence down to the lake area malfunctioned sending riders violently to the ground below.
Angela Elder, 54, was thrown from the ride and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other people who were also traveling on the lift at the time of the tragic accident were critically injured after the lift began to “accelerate rapidly” for an unknown reason. The ride then violently crashed into a boat deck area, authorities said in a report.
Lake Freeman is a popular residential and recreational area located just south of Monticello, Indiana.
A death investigation was opened as authorities try to find out the cause of the accident.
No other information regarding the fatal incident was made immediately available.
