A Stagecoach, Texas, police officer shot and killed a man after returning home and finding the man inside the dwelling Friday evening.
The off-duty officer says he opened fire after finding a man who had broken into his house. Arriving officials found a deceased male in the bathroom area of the home located in the 16100 block of SingleTree, in Stagecoach, TX.
It happened Friday in the 1600 block of SingleTree in Stagecoach, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. source
Lt. Scott Spencer says a Stagecoach Police Department officer came home to find a stranger inside. He then shot the suspect who he assumed was a burglar, officials say.
Authorities say the officer has 35 years of law enforcement experience, the last two years with Stagecoach PD.
Officers responded and found the burglary suspect dead inside of a bathroom at the home, Spencer says.
The man appeared to have died from numerous gunshot wounds.
The officer was uninjured in the incident.
Circumstances around the incident are in being investigated by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, district attorney’s office and the Texas Rangers.
