2015: According to two arrest warrants, the man said he was working as a security guard at a teen party in the 200 block of Oak Street when a fight broke out between girls in the parking lot Sunday.

He was armed with a Hi-Point CF380 and ran to break up the fight while holding the weapon, a warrant says. He said he placed it in his vest and while pulling one of the girls from the pile, the weapon fell out, hit the ground and went off, shooting him in his right calf, one warrant says.

Dillard’s aunt took to Facebook to remember the beloved young man:

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends affected by this tragedy.
