Michael Duane Brown has been identified as the North Carolina man who entered the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to confess he had just killed his girlfriend, Whitney Jo King, 27.
Brown, 31, was charged with murder after he reportedly drove himself to a Steele Creek police station Thursday and told detectives he fatally shot a female inside an apartment located in the 10700 block of Point South Drive.
According to CMPD, the suspect drove to the station just before 2 a.m. and said the deadly shooting occurred.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim, identified as King, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Detectives also found an infant who was not harmed during the shooting.

After interviewing with detectives, Brown was charged with King’s murder. The child has been taken into the temporary custody of DSS during the investigation.
