Jean Mixon, a former longtime Jacksonville ISD teacher and principal, died Monday in a crash.
Mixon was a teacher for over 20 years and was principal of East Side Elementary School for 20 years.
The wreck occurred on Monday around 5 p.m., Jacksonville Police Department told the Jacksonville Daily Progress. It happened at the intersection of Loop 456 and Drip Rock Road, officials confirmed.
Mixon was driving a Chevrolet Equinox and was southbound on Loop 456 and turned left, colliding with a Chevrolet pickup truck that was traveling northbound, officials said. She died, officials say, while the driver of the pickup received minor injuries. source
The funeral for Mixon will be held in Jacksonville on Thursday at Autry Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Visitation will be Wednesday night from 5 to 7 p.m.
