The remains of missing Eastern Kentucky woman, Maudie Smith, found in Bears Lane Cemetery in Viper, KY., have been identified a little more than one year later.
The Perry County Deputy coroner confirmed the sad news Monday after speculating for more than a years as to whether the remains even belonged to a person.
The news comes as friends of Smith came to grips that she was the person found dead.
“I called to where she was staying, where I talked to her last at, the person told me she left on foot going down the street… right fork of Maces Creek,” said Smiley Jent in an interview last July. source
Someone found Smith’s skull in April 2017 at Bears Lane Cemetery.
