WI Father On Swept Away Son “We Plan To Stay Until There’s No Hope In Finding Jevon Lemke”

The father of Reedsville, WI., teen Jevon Lemke, who was swept away while swimming on the Gulf Coast of Alabama, is asking boaters and pilots to watch out for the 17-year-old.

Chris Lemke spoke to local reporters about the search for his son, a popular Reedsville High School student athlete who was college bound and planning for a career in computer engineering.

The Lemkes were on vacation in Fort Morgan March 25 when a rip current swept Jevon away.

Choppy waters and fog have since hobbled the search effort.

“We plan to stay until there’s no hope in finding Jevon. I hope that happens… I don’t want to be greedy, I don’t want to take away from people, but I just want to find my son. That’s all,” the distraught father said.

Chris Lemke is urging folks to “keep an eye out” for his son.

“Just keep watching for him… If you’re a fisherman or anything just keep watching for him. I know he’s probably not alive. But I want to take him back to Wisconsin. That’s all that I ask. If you have a plane – please if you’re going over just check for me. That’s all we ask,” Chris Lemke told WALA.

Wander Springs Golf Course will be collecting donations today for the Lemke family during the fish fry. Jevon Lemke worked at the Wisconsin golf course.
