VIA kristv: A Corpus Christi Kingdom Acts Ministries International pastor and a church member were rushed to a hospital with critical injuries after they and a third victim were stabbed during a religious service.
According to officials with Corpus Christi Police Department, the incident happened at a pastor’s private residence in the 1200 block of Cambridge Drive at around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night.
When officers arrived, they reportedly found a group of churchgoers that had been holding a special service at the residence. Witnesses told police that during the service after a song, a member of the church unexpectedly lept from the crowd and attacked the pastor, stabbing him and another church member.
Witnesses reportedly told police that the attack appeared unprovoked and no motive had been established at time of writing. The suspect was reported to be a member of the church.
Police said the pastor sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. A second victim was reportedly stabbed in the neck and also taken to a hospital in critical condition. Two other churchgoers, who attempted to intervene, were also injured and were reported in stable condition.
Officials said a male suspect had been taken into custody and was charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but noted that those charges could change.
