Knoxville police has identified, Joshua Dozier, as the Tennessee man accused of murdering his father, Doug Dozier, during an argument.

Police responded to 206 Gayview Drive Saturday after receiving multiple calls reporting an argument occurring at the apartment complex.

Upon arrival at around 10:38 p.m., officers approached the residence and Joshua immediately slammed the door shut. Through a window, officers observed a male lying on the floor not moving.

They entered the apartment and discovered that the male was deceased. Officers discovered another male, Joshua Dozier, armed with a gun inside the apartment, and was immediately detained. Officers found that the suspect, Dozier, was angry when he went to his father’s residence on Gayview Drive to confront him. The father, Douglas Dozier, was killed in the fight, and KPD reports that Douglas Dozier worked for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. source

According to the preliminary autopsy report, the father died as a result of strangulation.

Dozier has been charged with one count of first degree murder and is being held at the Roger D. Wilson Detention facility on a one million dollar bond.

In November, 2017, Joshua Dozier, took to his Facebook page to repost a menacing meme about being “the black sheep of the family.
