More than 120,000 people are without power in Corpus Christi, TX., after Hurricane Harvey made landfall Friday night, KSAT is reporting.
A spokesperson for AEP, the area’s largest energy provider, said many of the outages are on the South side of the city with 38,000 customers affected; 30,000 customers are without power in Midtown; 34,000 in Aransas Pass and 40,000 are scattered throughout the area.

The figure has quadrupled since 6 p.m. when 31,000 people were without power.

“The numbers are getting worse through the night,” AEP spokesperson Larry Jones said. “We have people coming from Louisiana, from Marfa, etcetera. We have 2000 contractors and workers from other utilities coming in… Over and above the 300 normally based here.”
Jones said crews were instructed to shelter in place for now until the storm passes.
