Janice Harris, 72, James Harris, 88, James Whitley, 76 and Peggy Whitley, 67, were all victims in a horrific weekend quadruple killing in Enfield, N.C., said Sheriff Wes Tripp of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Janice and James Harris were residents of the home where the grisly murders occurred, Tripp said. The Whitleys were visiting the home from another area. The sheriff believes the couples were the victims of a home invasion in the Glenview Community of Fishing Creek Road.
The bodies were discovered Monday morning during a welfare check performed by a concerned family member.
Some items of value appeared to have been taken from the home, prompting authorities to suspect robbery as a motive.
While Tripp stopped short of saying there is a threat to the public, he said residents should be cautious until suspects are apprehended. The sheriff then added that he has never seen anything like this murder investigation in his 33 years in law enforcement. source
An $7,000 reward is being offered in connection with information leading to the suspect or suspects in the killings.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.
