Troy Gentry, half of award-winning country music duo Montgomery Gentry, is mourning the loss of his father, Lloyd. The death comes after the singer lost his mother in 2007 and his brother, Keith Gentry, in 2014.
According to a post made on the group’s social media accounts, Lloyd Gentry passed away early Sunday morning.

Troy Gentry grew up working for his dad in the restaurant business, a job that gave him and his dad a special relationship. Gentry spoke of working with his dad in a 2010 interview.
“I grew up workin’ for my dad during the summers and, you know, it was a lot of fun. It was all my dad ever knew,” Troy said. “I mean, I didn’t know anything else but the restaurant business up until, I guess, in the last 15 or 20 years when he got into the bar business. You know, I got in there, would bartend, and help wait tables and work in the kitchen. Throughout the summers, and while I was, you know, nights I wasn’t playin’ music, I was in the club helpin’ Dad out.” source
Gentry grew up with the Montgomery brothers, John Michael and Eddie, and they formed a band in 1990 called Early Tymz. Gentry decided to pursue a solo career and won the Jim beam National Talent contest in 1994. After being unable to find a record deal, Gentry reunited with Eddie Montgomery, formed Montgomery Gentry, and went on to become a successful country music duo.
