Robert Binderim has been taken into custody after being named as the man accused of causing a crash that killed a young Corpus Christi mother and seriously injured her 2-year-old son.
Binderim, 25, was traveling near Yorktown and Staples Thursday when he ran a red light in a Dodge pickup and struck 25-year-old Amanda Saldana and her son. Saldana was pronounced dead at the scene.
The impact of the crash caused Saldana’s SUV to crash into another vehicle that caused that vehicle to hit a metal post. That crash injured an unidentified 65-year-old male driver.
Her 2-year-old son who was in the vehicle with her was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Police say the child is still in the hospital and is expected to make a full physical recovery.
Binderim was arrested on four warrants relating to the crash after he was released from the hospital.
He faces multiple charges including manslaughter, injury to a child, injury to an elderly and assault.
