Police have arrested 81-year-old Texas grandmother, Nancy Strader, after she lead Texas officers on a harrowing crawling 25-miles an hour car chase, according to crimeonline.
Denton police stopped Strader after motorists reported her driving the wrong way early Thursday morning. Though she did pull over, she refused to exit her vehicle and drove away, evading authorities and beginning a car chase that topped out at 25-miles an hour.
Strader allegedly drove about three miles—ignoring emergency lights sirens—before stopping again. This time, two officers took knives to her tires so she couldn’t take off and broke a window to extract her from the vehicle, according to Dallas News.
What caused the grandmother to drive the wrong way and evade police when pulled over? She was just hungry and wanted coffee and a sandwich, according to an interview she gave to WFAA after spending 14 hours behind bars.
The 81-year-old was charged with evading arrest. Strader’s family has said that they plan on having a doctor examine her.
