The husband of Theresa Lockhart, the Portage, MI., Spanish teacher reported missing on May 20, was seen leaving his home accompanied by Portage police.
No one is in custody in connection to the disappearance of Lockhart however, her husband, Christopher Lockhart, was observed leaving the scene in the front seat of a police vehicle around 6:45 p.m. He was not in handcuffs and seemed willingly enter the cruiser.
The situation started around 4 p.m. A neighbor said Christopher Lockhart was attempting to drive away the home, then saw police vehicles and tried to pull back into garage. He was later outside, across the street from his house, speaking with police. Police search the Portage home of Theresa and Christopher Lockhart. (June 7, 2017) The street is blocked off by police tape, as is the Lockhart home. Multiple police vehicles, including at least one armored vehicle and a Michigan State Police mobile crime lab, could be seen outside the home. An image of the scene from a witness showed officers in tactical gear. That witness said there was also a K-9 unit there. h/t woodtv
One officer on the scene told the witness said that authorities expected to be there for some time.
Christopher Lockhart has been named a person of interest in his wife’s disappearance, but has since denied involvement.
Portage police have said the case could become a homicide investigation.
