Who Is Sage Steele? And Why Is This ESPN Host Being SLAMMED On Social Media?

ESPN reporter, Sage Steele, is being skewered on social media after posting an Instagram comment after witnessing the protest President of Donald Trump‘s immigration executive order while traveling at LAX. She said in part that she was “saddened” to the protesters’ “joy on their faces” as they disrupted people trying to get to their flights.

Steele, 44, was met with angry tirades by social media types angered at her having her own opinion of the travel ban. “All good! But just bc someone has a different opinion, doesn’t mean they’re “the worst”. Unless, of course, only YOUR opinion is allowed,” Sage later wrote on Twitter.

Here’s Steele’s full comment:

“So THIS is why thousands of us dragged luggage nearly 2 miles to get to LAX, but still missed our flights. Fortunately, a 7 hour wait for the next flight to Houston won’t affect me that much, but my heart sank for the elderly and parents with small children who did their best to walk all that way but had no chance of making their flights. I love witnessing people exercise their right to protest! But it saddened me to see the joy on their faces knowing that they were successful in disrupting so many people’s travel plans. Yes, immigrants were affected by this as well. Brilliant.” h/t heavy

Steele’s father is Gary Steele, (pictured above,) who became a U.S. Army colonel. He was also became the first black player to play on Army’s varsity football team in 1966.

The post was met with comments from many disappointed with her statement.

“At least you were able to get on a plane?” one person wrote on social media. “Why are you mad? Because you’re spoiled and privileged? Since you care so much about the elderly, what about the Grandparents of a young woman who were DETAINED for hours because of their race. What would you do if this was happening to black people which it soon will be? Girl bye!”

  • Yeah, when you're an ESPN reporter, how about you just keep your tweet thoughts to yourself. You'll get blasted by one side or another. Stay in your lane.. and don't think you've fooled anybody about how YOU were personally inconvenienced by the 1st Amendment allowing Americans to voice compassion for those being discriminated against, as outlined in the U.S. Constitution.
One more thing Ms. Steele... eat a steak, baked potato with sour cream, lots of butter.. and take a nap. Take a few naps. You look unhealthy.
