“Allahu Akbar!” Shouted During Deadly Quebec City Mosque Shooting

Mohamed el Khadir and Alexandre Bissonnette, the two accused shooters who opened fire on a crowd of around 40 people at a mosque in Quebec City, killing eight, shouted “Allahu akbar” during their attack.

At least eight people were reported shot dead and as many as 19 were injured — five critically in an attack in which Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ruled the incident a “terror attack.”

In a statement. Trudeau wrote, “It was with tremendous shock, sadness and anger that I hear of this evening’s tragic and fatal shooting at the Centre culturel islamique de Quebec located in the Ste-Foy neighbourhood of the city of Quebec.”

According to Fox News, the two gunmen shouted “Allahu akbar!” as they opened fire on the crowd at the mosque. The report said that one of the suspects, Khadir, is of Moroccan origin and an immigrant from the country, with TVA Nouvelles reporting that he is in his “late 20s to early 30s.” h/t heavy

The other, Bissonnette, is reported as having a Quebec accent.

Both Khadir and Bissonnette are expected to appear in court January 30, police told reporters at a briefing.
