American Hero John Glenn And The Family He Left Behind

American hero, astronaut, John Glenn was not only the first man to orbit the Earth, he was also a U.S. senator. Glenn passed away leaving behind a wife, two grown children and two grandchildren.

Glenn was being treated at James Cancer Hospital since last week before dying at age 95. He had suffered a stroke two years ago and his health has been in question ever since.

Glenn and his wife, Annie, were always close to their children. They raised their children in a loving home, while the family had to move many times for John’s Marine Corps career.

For their 70th anniversary, they went to Norway with their two children and their two grandchildren, The Columbus Dispatch reported. Annie’s profile on John Glenn’s website said that she enjoys family activities, especially with her two grandsons.

David Glenn was only 16 when his dad, John Glenn, made his first solo flight on the Mercury in 1962. When John Glenn returned to space at 77, David’s son Daniel was 16.

David said that when he was a teen, he familiarized himself with space travel and details of the space capsule to help deal with his worries about his dad’s flight.
