At least 12 children were rushed to area hospitals after being involved in a school bus crash on I-65 north of downtown Nashville on Friday morning.
The crash occurred at 10:45 a.m. local time in the northbound lanes near Exit 90 for Briley Parkway.
One of the students is in critical condition. It’s not clear how the other children are doing. All of the injured students are being taken to Skyline and Vanderbilt hospitals. The Nashville Fire Department says the school bus is from Chester County. The students were heading to the Tennessee state convention for the National Beta Club at the Gaylord Opryland hotel. Officials are asking drivers to avoid the area. Right now, the off-ramp from I-65 North is blocked. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation website, the scene may not be cleared until 11:45 a.m. h/t wsmv
