Reminiscent of a Hollywood movie, the FBI has issued an urgent nationwide alert to local police departments warning of a possible purge-like event on October 31, they have dubbed, “Halloween Revolt.”
In the hit horror movie, “The Purge,” a 12-hour period is instituted allowing the public to commit any and all crime, usually while masked. Now, in real life, the National Liberation Militia has apparently ordered its members to similarly wear Halloween masks, create disturbances and ambush police.
The FBI issued a nationwide alert but in a later statement cautioned that it’s protocol to keep local agencies in the loop: “As part of the continuous dialogue with our law enforcement partners, the FBI routinely shares information about potential threats to better enable law enforcement to protect the communities they serve.” h/t nbclosangeles
The LAPD confirmed Tuesday that they they did indeed receive the warning and have shared it with commanding officers.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to law enforcement,” the FBI said in the alert.
