The Borges family rescued two tigers from an abusive circus in 2005, and since then they’ve acquired 5 more.. Today, the normally ferocious wild beasts have been transformed into malign house pets that meander around the grounds near the family’s toddler..
The family started an improvised exotic animal sanctuary at their home in Maringa, Brazil, that is now home to seven tigers as well as two lions and one pet chihuahua..

The tigers are treated like family members, being allowed to roam freely around the compound..
Nayara Borges, 20, swims with one of the tigers for exercise. She says,
“Ever since the tigers were born, we have taken care of them, feeding them, so their instincts became dormant.”
Other family members include a 2-year-old girl, who is allowed to ride the tigers..
