K-pop sensation, PSY, addressed derogatory comments made at his expense by Green Day frontman, druggy, Billie Joe Armstrong.
A FUSE reporter scored the first interview with the Korean rapper, asking him what he thought about Billie comparing him and his brand of music to a bad case of herpes,
“What is herpes?” Psy responded, and after a brief explanation by the FUSE reporter, he smartly continued,
“I kind of like it,” he said. “It’s cool, I think it’s really cool, and I appreciate that. Thank you.”
Radio.com noted that the rapper “genuinely” seemed unaware as to the existence of Armstrong or Green Day. It is unclear whether or not the reporter clarified.
Later, and probably after doing some research on the Internet, PSY actually thanked Billie Joe a final time! For giving him the idea for his next smash hit single – entitled – you guessed it, “Herpes.” I’m serious.
“I know what that means exactly, herpes,” Psy said. “But the reason I thanked Billie Joe Armstrong is [because] he’s saying [I] ‘keep coming back.’ So in a good way or a bad way as a culture and musical product, which has that kind of addiction…it keeps coming back, I think. Which is good for my industry.”
