The Centers for Disease Control released a statement saying that in 2009, about half of the popular movies that came out, had smoking in them. 54% of the films that included smoking were PG-13. The prevalence of smoking in movies has actually dropped by half since 2005, which was Hollywood’s biggest cigarette smoking year on record since they started keeping count back in 1991.
CDC hopes to get MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America), to rate movies “R-Rated”, that depict smoking-period! I guess CDC views nudity and smoking on the same level!
